The changes in this timeline are a little off-base. We did plan this work and priorize it, but it was de-prioritized sometime early this year.

We will be adding transctions unassociated with events (creatable from the financial section, transaction tab), which should allow for a more whole tracking of expenses.

But, we do not have plans to help with problems of categorizing expenses as tax deductible in the near future. You of course could use description fields and labels to help with some problems in this use case.
